At the helm of the Green Bay campus is Bill Panella, who has been with Rasmussen University since 2009. Originally from the Detroit area, Panella says he’s thrilled to be part of the Green Bay community.
“Obviously the Packers are a big draw. But what a lot of people don’t realize is there’s a lot more here,” Panella says. “There’s a lot of unique things to do. It’s a great place to raise a family, and the education system is pretty solid throughout the area.”
But closer to campus, it’s the Rasmussen University team that makes the difference, Panella said.
“The team here is passionate—whether it’s an admissions adviser or faculty member, they all really enjoy their work and they understand it’s about people bettering their education to better themselves,” Panella says.
What is the history of Rasmussen University and the Green Bay campus?
Rasmussen University is a regionally accredited private college and has been dedicated to changing lives and the communities it serves through its career-focused and flexible educational programs since 1900. The University is committed to academic innovation while empowering students to pursue a college education. The University offers programs ranging from Certificates to Doctoral degrees across its 23 campuses. The Green Bay campus was added to the Rasmussen University family with its opening in 2007.
Where is the Green Bay campus located?
Sitting right at the intersection of Interstate 41 and Highway 54 on the western side of Green Bay, the campus location gives easy access to other areas of town and the state. The Fox River divides the city in half and runs to the bay, which opens to beautiful Lake Michigan to the northeast. The river provides plenty of watercraft recreation, for boaters or kayakers alike.
The city itself is, of course, home to the Green Bay Packers’ historicLambeau Field, which is just a couple of miles from the Rasmussen University campus for those sports fanatics. Bronze statues of football greats line the outside of the stadium, and thePackers’ Hall of Fameand museum are adjoined, so it’s a quick five-minute drive from campus for a whole day of football fun.
Closer to the bay, the well-knownBay Beach Amusement Parkis Green Bay’s answer to New York’s Coney Island, with a bayside roller coaster, bumper cars and Ferris wheel. For a quiet change of pace, folks can head to the 47-acreGreen Bay Botanical Garden, open year-round.

Medical Assisting students pitch in at regular blood pressure clinics at the YMCA and there are blood drives at the campus every quarter to benefit the American Red Cross. As a sponsor of theWisconsin Timber RattlersandGreen Bay Bullfrogsbaseball teams, this campus isn’tonlyfull of football fans.
The Green Bay campus also helps to support theService Leagueof Green Bay, securing school supplies for kids in need, as well as involvement in theGreater Green Bay Healthcare Alliance’s career expo.
