A Closer Look at the Rasmussen University – Wausau Campus
Squarely the center of the state and right along the winding Wisconsin River, Wausau has been home to a Rasmussen University campus since 2010. A perfect way to ring in the New Year, the campus officially opened its doors on January 4 of that year, becoming an important part of Rasmussen University’s history.
Campus Director Bill Panella says the Wausau location, which is tucked into groves of trees alongside Highway 51, offers students and staff a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
“We know all of our students,” Panella said. “We have small classrooms, our faculty know all of their students and our advisors know the students by name. So it truly is a personal, family feel here.”
In addition to that family feel, the Wausau campus is known as “The prettiest campus in the Rasmussen University system,” Panella says, noting the campus sits beyond a leafy, tree-lined street officially known as Rasmussen University Driveway. “We’re located in a beautiful setting.”
Panella says Wausau serves as a hub for central Wisconsin’s healthcare, with two main interstate arteries intersecting the city.
What is the history of Rasmussen University and the Wausau campus?
Rasmussen University is a regionally accredited private college and has been dedicated to changing lives and the communities it serves through its career-focused and flexible educational programs since 1900. The University is committed to academic innovation while empowering students to pursue a college education. The University offers Certificate and Diploma programs through Associate’s, Bachelor’s andMaster’s degrees onlineand across its 23 campuses. The Wausau campus began its construction in 2009, and was officially opened in January 2010.
Where is the Wausau campus located?
The Wausau campus is on the north side of town, just off of Highway 51, with easy access to anywhere in the town of around 40,000 inhabitants. The Wisconsin River divides Wausau, which, itself, sits right in the center of the state, about a 90-minute drive from Green Bay.
Wooded areas surround the campus, and the groves of trees shine golden in the fall, providing the perfect backdrop for a warm afternoon study session.
